Wobbly Zodiac moanin to ya Wobblywaltripians...
Hey PPPP from CCCS do you hoppen to have a library at your home, with books...??? A library is a good think to have, most important room in the house, after the bathroom of course...oh, and then theres the kitchen, which causes you to HAVE the bathroom...of course something you read in the library could cause you to need the bathroom...then of course, the bathroom becomes the library...

Me and DD, my beloved, hibernated from Friday to today...only getting out to go to church Sunday...had the usual suspects at church, about 42 all told...thats choir and pianist, and minister and kids and ushers...if you count the couple across the street walking their dogs, then it would be 46, counting the dogs too, of course...also too...
Anyway, was talking about hibernating...we just didnt lay around...well we did that some, but we moved the office around upstairs and made it more better...my desk is now in there so we can sit side by each and tippy type on our respective computers...which is where I am now typing this forum entry from...no longer in the library...buuuut, we have a couch upstairs in the office, so when I get tired, I can lay down and take a nappy poo...also have a TV in the office...

We are still putting things back together, just tooooo much stuff...John Boy is now asleep on the couch, so I hope I dont get sleepy...No cats today, but they have been up here getting in the way and "furniture surfing"...anytime we moved a piece of furniture, a cat or two would jump on making it weigh about 30 pounds more than what we needed, and guide it into place...since we have finished moving furniture, they are all down for a nap in the sun...dang, getting sleepy...sounds like a good idear...

Looking forward to lunch tomorrow with the Whirld council on Burgers and Fries...AH DO HOPE THAT WE WILL HAVE A QUORUM...Ah might just break with tradition and have a HOTDOG...
Oh Jim...I have the biscuit recipe ready to bring...fact is, soon as I finish this entry, I will put it in my pickup...hmmm might just ride over on Pegasus if it is good weather...

Hey Dennis...Kay...Tony...PPPP of CCCS and Lynn and Alva of Hearne...did yall get much rain???? I know Dennis needed it badly...we needed it badly in Normangee...I only put out 200 pounds of rye, Dennis put out 1600 pounds...radar showed it was raining up thataway...

Hey Gary M., I remember the name of that town and restaurant I was thinking of between Madisonville and Centerville...Leona!!!!! and of course the Leona Restaurant...great steaks and pork chops and PEACH COBBLER AND ICE CREAM...dang, made myself hungry...OK, I will sign off for now...PPPP from CCCS we do hope you are feeling much more better...need any chicken soup??? I allus put japalenas in it, sorta give it a kick, so it can give me a kick...sometimes a kickstart is a good thing...except when youse are wobbling, then you fall down, and you already fell down...so stop falling down...

your wobbly friend and brother...Beauregard C Ephus...

Remarkably better!!! That is what the doc said I would be on Monday or I had to go back to see him. WRONG!!! I was NOT going back to the doctor ($$$) so I got "Remarkable-lee Better". It actually didn't happen until Monday evening... after I left Mom's and her "wanting to go home" and "the list of phones numbers to call of people that would come take care of her" and a glass (ok two glasses) of spirit filling drink.

Today is Tuesday and I actually feel normal. That should scare the ever-loven out of the folks in College Station because my "normal" is well... Beau and I understand each other... Does that tell ya'll anything ??? It tells me that the Waltripians are alive and well and causing havick in and around Texas and the extended Texas borders where Waltripians dwell.

I better get to the work stoppage ... caused all work stops at my desk.

Happy Tuesday... PPP

Beau, Rich, Jim, Jimmy, et al., just for the record I dropped by Five Guys Burgers after going to lunch at BBQ Inn with Fran and her mom and picking up prescriptions and groceries, Fran's normal Tuesday circuit. I didn't get there until about 12:55 and everyone was gone.

It made me feel good about the status of the world's problems, that they must be back down to a manageable size that yall could solve in short order.

I'll try to catch up with you next time.

01/18/11 02:35 PM #3665

Richard Meek '65

Ted, you have to move fast if you want to keep up with this group. All the problems aren't  solved. You have to pace yourself. We need some to handle at the next meeting. Just so everyone can rest easy, we did solve a few, told a few jokes, told some tall tales and the burgers were excellent as were the fries. Also our attendance was up 25% from the previous meeting. As a matter of fact it was such a good meeting we may not wait a full month before we call the next. Be prepared for upcoming announcements.

So now it´s time for your coming out, Paige, since yure upagain and your feelings seem to be well. Life is beautiful! Don´t worry.

Look at Teddy, he was late, but it´s never too late!

OK YOU PEOPLE!!!!! LISTEN UP!!!!...never mind, I forgot...
Good morrow mine wobblytripians...PPPP fm CCCS soooooo glad you are feeling better...pirates ought never to be feeling bad...some of my chicken soup musta walked up to CS...

TJ sorry you missed the meeting of the minds....are a terrible think to wit...we just left a minuet before you got there...if we had known you were coming, we'd a baked a cake...or another burger...I thought the meeting was not as spirited as past ones...methinks it was the damp dreary foggy weather that put a damper on it...we reached a consensus, howsomeever, ie, politicians  bad...burgers good...probably spent at least 5 seconds on that particular bit o bidness...the subject of the purchase of Sterling Bank by CoAmerica Bank, was broached, and all agreed that nothing good would become of it...going to switch to Bank of Mattress...

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo was discussed and all agreed that the band KISS  didnt quite seem to fit the cowboy motif of entertainment...maybe they will perform RAWHIDE...always a catchy tune...Janet Jackson is another entertainer employed by the good ol boys of HLS&R...seems they know just what we want...another "wardrobe malfunction" ...

Hmmmm whoelse will be there???? Roy and Dale???...nope...Gene Autry??? nope...probably the Greatfull Dead...wonder why they dont get politicians to perform...some of em are as entertaining as a poke in the eye with a sharp stick...Oh, there I go, being pessimistic and cynical...
We did touch briefly on the Roy Rogers museum being sold off...wondering what some of the items fetched in price...it was mentioned that Trigger went for a hundred grand...received my American Rifleman periodical in the mail when I got home from Fudds Jr...and guess what article they had....come on guess....nope, not nekid bungee jumping...but a couple of the items from the RR and DE museum and what price they fetched...RRs gold plated colt peacemakers and his first "buscadero" rig, (double holsters) brought 103K including buyers premium of 15%...thats why I didnt bid on anything, because of that 15% buyers premium...

RRs factory engraved gold embellished Winchester Model 12 that he bought from Clark Gable for 600 dollars, sold for 62K...just a mite rich for my gun cabinet...the Model 12 brand new, minus all the gold and embellishments went for around 60 dollars when it was first introduced...that one and the Remmington 870 are probably two of the finest allround field shotguns for the money...in mine and a few others opinion...

tried to get into the waltrip site, and my mailbox, and for some reason I was blocked most of the day...methinks it was because it was the second Monday of the week and the net was very busy...at least thats how I'm gonna tell it...got in just fine today...

well, ok...anyone want to get together for another lunch and meeting of the minds, sing out...I am always willling to sacrifice my time for a meeting...and it doesnt even have to be at 5 guys either...which by the way, is guilty of false advertising in our opinion...there was only 2 guys working there yesterday, and 5 ladies...so I think they should change the name to 5 gals...what say you????   Ok, going on another luncheon today...this time with my son Quick Draw Billy...going to Angies...MEATLOAF DAY...YEA!!!!

Beau - one of our elderly friends who is 97 sent me an article on the Roy Rogers Museum closing.  I forwarded it on to your e-mail if I have the correct one.  Things that were sold brought far more $$$ than was anticipated!

Thanks Susan...on the surface, it's kinda sad, but Roy told his son, when interest waned, sell it all...and now, those that enjoyed RR and DE own a part of history...well, if you have money to burn, you can own a part of it...
I THOUGHT TODAY WAS MEATLOAF WEDNESDAY...someone has been messing with my mind, or the calendar...today was lasagna wednesday...Angie said Meatloaf was on Mondays...I could have sworn that I had meatloaf on Wednesday...well, thats what you get being retired...dont know what day of the week it is...
the lasgna was good though, very light and not to garlicy...OH, and FRAHED OKRA...YEAAAAAA...
ALSO TOO, good company, son and daughter in law....ok, getting to be feeding time at the zoo...

on dasher and dancer and sammy and katie and lacy and peaches and annie bob and oliver...now jackie and cooper...up up and awaaaaaaaayyyyy....

I bring sad news from Tony Maddox and Suzie May --

Please keep Kay Watters '65 Greene and her family in your prayers.  Just learned her 8 year old grandson, Michael, was killed in a car accident this past weekend.  Her son, Todd, and daughter-in-law, Cheli were injured -- funeral is pending.

Father there for son from birth to death

In 2002, Todd Greene was on patrol for the Grimes County Sheriff's Department when he was called to deliver a baby.

The call came from his wife, Cheli, when she realized she was about to deliver the couple's first child 45 days before her due date. With help from an emergency dispatcher, Todd Greene delivered the 4 pound, 5 ounce boy before the ambulance arrived.

This week, Todd Greene, now a captain with the Grimes County Sheriff's Department, is making funeral arrangements for his son, 8-year-old Michael, who died after a weekend head-on vehicle accident on Texas 30.

Todd and Cheli Greene remained at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan on Tuesday, recovering from their injuries. Both suffered broken bones.

Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell said the couple is doing well under the circumstances. Cheli Greene, a juvenile probation officer for Grimes County, is scheduled for another surgery Wednesday, Sowell said.

Bryan police said the Greenes were driving on Texas 30 east of Elmo Weedon Road about 1:20 p.m. Sunday when a pickup going the other direction hydroplaned across the road and struck their car.

The driver of the pickup was taken to College Station Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have not released that driver's name, and his condition was not available late Tuesday.

Bryan officers will reconstruct the accident on Wednesday, closing the eastbound and center turn lanes of Texas 30 near Nunn Jones Road from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Drivers in the area are asked to use caution and watch for officers on the road.

Michael Greene's funeral will be held in about two weeks, Sowell said, and Todd and Cheli Greene will likely need to be taken to the service by ambulance.

Arrangements are being handled by Nobles Funeral Chapel.

I heard it on the news and in my heart I knew I recognized the names. My heart was broken. I gathered my children and little ones in my heart and called each one. I prayed for the family. Do keep Kay her family in your prayers. It is something that only God understands.

Thanks Jackie, Tony and Suzie for sending the notice.

Kay Watters '65 (Greene)

Thank you all, for your kind words concerning my son and his family.  "Why do bad (in this case, horrendous) things happen to very good people? Just don't know, and don't know what the future will be like for all of us without Michael.  I think because of his Dad's position, Michael was given a lot of opportunites to know many important people in our small towns of Anderson and Navasota and always with a smile and expressive remarks.  He knew no boundaries.  He was the kind of kid that before going to the Subway, stopped at the cleaners next door and would put his face in the window and wave and stick his head in to say hi, and let the lady at the counter know he was on his way to get a subway....little things like this, talk personally to the cashiers at Walmart, like he had to gather as much information of all people, places and things as quick as he could.  Anyone he met, was then a friend to Michael.  His parents are enduring the physical pain and encountering more problems right now.  Todd is going for an MRI today as he is still nausous and medicine isn't helping.  Cheli may be able to sit up as a result of her operation Wed.  They celebrated their wedding anniversary today.  Todd sent her roses and was wheeled to her room where they held hands and talked privately for two hours.  I'm damm proud of them both as this won't be easy on em.  Michael's funeral will be massive for this small town.  The students in each grade have signed their expressions of consolation on a separate board and they will be put up around the gymnasium in which his public service will be held.  We will have a private one before that.

In my case report cards will be delayed a week with the school sending out a notice to student's parents because of the tragedy.  On top of all this, two hours before I was told by the sheriff of the accident on Sunday after church, I received a call from Linda Baker, my ex-sister-in-law that Dan Thomas Baker had also passed away.  I lost two wonderful people.  Dan's funeral will be held in Wimberley, TX at St. Mary's Church, graveside services only, for those that knew him. His children are all here from Ohio.

Please know that your thoughts and prayers are the best things that can help this family, and so appreciated at this time.

Jennie Anderson '65 (Dylan)

My heart and prayers are with you and your family Kaye.  Such "grace" to be able to write on the forum for all of us to be kept up-to-date about your son and daughter-in-law's injuries and ongoing recovery; but mostly, through your memory of that precious little guy stopping in the door of the cleaners on his way to Subway.  I hope you will continue to share such sweet memories of him because it brings us all to our knees remembering how fragile life is and how fast things can change in our lives.  I read the Anderson newspaper and the write up about how much each of them mean and how loved your little grandson was to the whole community.  It was inspiring how many people absolutely loved this family.  I know you must feel and deserve to feel such pride in each one!  May you feel God's warmth as you walk this very rocky road in your life.  In fact, I pray he's carrying you!

Jennie

Kay, I can't say it any better than Jennie just did. Just know that as parents and grandparents, and as Christians, we share your grief, and your lack of understanding, and your faith. As Jennie also said, Fran and I pray that God will carry you and your family through this time.

A grief of this magnitude...There are no words adequate enough to console...we look in our minds heart, trying to bring a comforting word...a consoling word...a profound thought to help you, our friend, get through this unthinkable, unimaginable, and unfathomable tragedy...we out here, your Waltrip Family, are all parents and grandparents...and the ache and break in our hearts, in no way compares to yours...but, know this, we do care, with all our hearts...with all the love and caring we can muster, we are here for you...

this Sunday, we will be praying in this chappel for you and your family, and Gods newest Angel...A light will forever be burning in the windows of our hearts for you...

Kay, please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.  I hope it is of some comfort to you and your family to know that we are all thinking about you and praying for you.  I can't even imagine what it would be like to lose a grandchild.  You feel your own loss and sorrow, but it is double because you also feel the sorrow and loss of your children.  God is with you at this time and may your faith and trust in God carry you through to better days.

Jackie Crowe (Finch)

Our love, support and prayers continue for Kay and her family. What a wonderful and loving group you all are -- and now we need to add another to our prayer list.  Sandi Schleisinger's brother, Forrest.

  Jackie,

If you wouldn't mind, would you please post this on the Waltrip website.

My Brother, Forrest Green (Waltrip class of 1971) was injured on December 1, when he fell down some cement stairs in Galveston.

He suffered a brain injury and was in intensive care for more than 3 weeks. He is presently in a rehabilatation facility and faces mounting medical bills.

Unfortunately, he did not have health insurance and after we saw the insurmountable bills coming in from his 21 days of ICU and what the Rehabilitation place wants as far as occupational and physical therapy fees we were floored……but it is all necessary in order for him to hopefully recover to whatever capacity he can.

His two courageous daughters (only 26 and 23 years of age) that are trying to provide for their Dad (my brother) along with family and friends are having a benefit in Galveston next weekend. The girls, Kristin and Tanya are very responsible for their young years, however, they are overwhelmed with the financial end of his continuing care.

If anyone is in the area, we would love for you to join us. We will have many items to auction and raffle, in addition to barbeque plates for $8. I know for a fact that the food will be good.

I have a flyer to attach, but have no idea how to attach it to this and I don't have your personal e-mail address.

The benefit is on Saturday, January 29th at 2:00 PM at Jamaica Beach Park (Bob Smith and Jolly Roger Road in Jamaica Beach.)

RAFFLE * SILENT AUCTION * CAKE WALK * DRINKS * SNACKS

If you can't attend but wish to donate, please mail checks made out to:

Forrest Green
5247 Jamaica Beach
Galveston, TX 77554

My dear friends, fans, and, if any remain, even foes ?,

I’m now one month out from the renal transplant. Lab reports (two per week) have been consistently good. Functions are all normal for the fist time in over 20 years. For me, the expression _new lease on life_ has a depth of meaning that I’d never considered or realized existed. I cannot wait to get back to being physically active again - although, of course, no more pre-dawn, long-distance runs, since I’m 63 with bad knees, not the 21-year-old coiled spring that I became after losing all the weight and designing my own diet and training program. That’s now for the next life, never this one again.

I must apologize for my lack of communication over about the last two weeks or so. There has been one little gnat, plus a rather large and pestiferous fly, in the proverbial ointment. Two weeks out from the 12/23 transplant surgery, I developed some localized infection along the incision, and I had to go back into the hospital for 24 hours to get that under control. That was the gnat of which I’ve spoken. The big, buzzing, biting fly was an incisional hernia that put me back in the hospital for a week for a second major surgery on top of the first one. I just got back home on Thursday night. I’m back to square-one in terms of limitations of activities and also discomfort which sometimes mushrooms into pain. Endurance for now is almost non-existent. In fact, the hernia has been more difficult in some ways than the transplant was, despite the unusual complexity of the transplant. I was going to start driving again in about two weeks, but now it’s going to be a month.

Do I still think it was worth all this? Absolutely! Would I put myself through it again, knowing what I’d face in the first month, with longer-range goals in mind? In a heartbeat! I have every intention of being at the Class of ’66 reunion this fall, and out on that dance floor, at least for the slow dances that my knees will still permit.

On a far more somber note, my 94-year-old mother has had to be admitted first to a hospital and subsequently to a rehabilitation center in northwest Harris County due to a serious skin infection and also congestive heart failure. The present prognosis is positive but guarded. Those of you who had younger siblings, cousins, friends, etc., in Garden Oaks Elementary from 1960-1991 may remember her successful three-decade career there, especially her groundbreaking efforts in gifted-talented education. Many of her former students now hold down prestigious professional posts (including numerous teaching positions at both public school and university levels), government positions, and community leadership positions throughout the Houston area, the state, and the nation, and she still remembers each of them fondly, along with the successful writers and creative artists who had her as their teacher in either fifth or sixth grade.

In sum, any/all thoughts and prayers for both of us would be deeply appreciated. All of you have been so very wonderful so far, and I know you will continue to be.

All the very best to each of you and yours,
Jack Bevil

For those who sent Gary Keith a "Happy Birthday" via the website - he cannot open and read your messages.

Per Gary -

Hey Jackie, will you pass the word for me to everyone who sent me a Birthday greeting that I can no longer open the Waltrip website on this computer. I get as far as the falling snow and it won't go anymore. Guess its time for a better system.
Thanks,

Paige Talley (Meek)

My grandson, Alex (Utah) age 17, deliberately overdosed around 2:00 a.m. this morning (after breaking up with his girlfriend). He was found and taken to the hospital. It had been too long to pump his stomach so they are waiting. He is having seizures. Tim is on his way to the hospital and will call as soon as he knows something more. I don't know where he was staying but he was not at his dad's house. Alex was supposed to be staying either with his Mom or his Aunt Debbie. Please pray...

Thanks,
Paige

Tim (daddy)
Tami (mother)
Alex
David (brother)
Cheyenne (girlfriend)

UPDATE: Alex is expected to be in ICU for at least 2 days. The 15 Bupropion Extended Release Tablets had disolved into his system during the 4 hours before he was found and must now work is's way out of his system. He is not on life support.

I am reminded of a song I heard this past weekend. It sums up my thoughts today...

BLUES IS LIKE SHOES
cMoe Ewart, Subterranean Music/SOCAN

The CD I heard is The Other Side of the Glass

As a boy I served a term as a mud puddle sailor
I had a sea of my own at the side of the road
And with a patch on my eye
I was Morgan the Pirate
And in my rubber boots
The Colossus of Rhodes

And the cars sped on by like the Spanish Armada
And the spin of their wheels sent a storm on my sea
Until one of the fleet came too close to the sidewalk
And rammed at my ship and she sunk at my feet

So I dry docked my wreck in my grandfather's kitchen
And climbed on his lap as he picked up the thread
And he mended my sails with a flash of his fingers
And then drying my tears, here's the words that he said:

"Blues is like shoes, ranging in sizes
When you're a young boy, the sizes are small
Blues is like shoes, you'll find when you're older
The shoes you have now are the nicest of all."

Only now that I'm grown, I find I'm still a sailor
But I'm up to my neck in the mud puddle now
And under fire by much more than the Spanish Armada
And they're ramming my ship and they're crashing my bow

And the worst of it is that it never stops raining
And the wheels never slow and the storms never cease
And I swear when my bones become too heavy with water
I'll sink too deep to wash up on any one's beach
But I can tell by the stars that I'm close to an island
Would mean nothing to swim but the question is how
And I can't even run to my grandfather's kitchen
'Cause the house where he lived is a parking lot now

Blues is like shoes, ranging in sizes
When you're a young boy, the sizes are small
Blues is like shoes, you'll find now you're older
The shoes you have now are the nicest of all.

Today I ran into a mud puddle sailor
He had a sea of his own at the side of the road
And with a patch on his eye
He was Morgan the Pirate
And in his rubber boots
The Colossus of Rhodes

And the cars sped on by like the Spanish Armada
And the spin of their wheels sent a storm on his sea
Until one of the fleet came too close to the sidewalk
And rammed at his ship and she sunk at his feet

So he dry docked his wreck right there in my kitchen
And climbed on my lap as I picked up the thread
And I mended his sails with a flash of my fingers
And then drying his tears, here's the words that I said:

"Blues is like shoes, ranging in sizes
When you're a young boy, the sizes are small
Blues is like shoes, you'll find when you're older
The shoes you have now are the nicest of all
Blues in the shoes of a child are the nicest of all."
